Umeewarra Radio 89.1 FM, located on NukunuBarngarla Aboriginal country in Port Augusta, was setup in 1987 and has since grown into a modern digital media centre, promoting the importance and relevance of First Nations peoples culture today.

The station was recently hit with a one-in-a-hundred-years storm event, leaving the building inundated with water following heavy hail and 59mm of rain over a 3 hour period. The flat roof construction and box gutters just couldn’t cope. The studio area, transmission room, foyer and reception were impacted along with carpets and electrical equipment.  While moisture had been largely removed from the building, further air quality monitoring and sanitisation was required before it was safe for staff to return to the station.  Our Quick Response Grant has provided Umeewarra Radio 89.1 FM with equipment for air monitoring, air-con sanitisation and carpet-cleaning.  This will enable staff to keep operating while other insured remedial building works are underway.

CBF Quick Response Grant:  $9,400 for air monitoring, installation of air purifiers, air-con sanitisation and carpet cleaning
