Community Radio Plus is a new app featuring more than 300 Australian community radio stations. It helps community radio listeners across the country easily find and enjoy community radio content, no matter where they are.
Listeners can now stream their favourite shows live, hear the latest news in hourly bulletins and discover new podcasts – all in one centralised location. There is also a detailed search function to find stations, programs and content by genre, topic or language, as well as curated lists and recommendations based on listening preferences.
Community Radio Plus was funded by the CBF as part of the broader Multiplatform Distribution Project to improve community radio stations’ ability to reach their audiences via multiple platforms. The project is managed by the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA).
The CBAA are encouraging all community radio stations to download the app, review station information and add additional content such as podcasts, ‘now playing’ data and news article images.
They also need help getting the word out to local communities. To make it as easy as possible, they’ve created a detailed information pack with logos, images, scripts, recorded promos and sample copy to start promoting the app in your networks.
The app is available from Google Play or the App Store. It can be used on smartphones and smart speakers, and will soon also be available on Google Nest and car radio apps.
If you love it, as we do, give it a five-star rating in the App Store or on Google Play! This will help drive the app to the top of the Google Play and App Store charts so people can find it more easily. Importantly, it will ensure more people can discover the rich and diverse content broadcast in local communities around Australia.
