With help from the CBF, Youth Matters on ONE FM engaged and trained young people in Shepparton to host radio programs.
A group of 12 young people underwent intensive training over three weekends, providing them with the fundamentals of what is needed to work on community radio. Once on-air, these presenters covered issues that resonated with people of all ages, including depression, youth suicide, drugs and the impact of social media.
This experience provided invaluable learning for these students, with two going on to pursue a career in journalism. For the presenters and the listeners tuning in, the impact of this training has the potential to be life-changing.
