Cultural competency training for CBF volunteers:
New Grants Advisory Committee members will be automatically enrolled for the following two cultural competency courses (unless they can demonstrate appropriate cultural knowledge through prior personal or workplace experience). Get in touch with Georgie to discuss.
New Assessor Team members are highly encouraged to enroll in the following two cultural competency courses (unless they can demonstrate appropriate cultural knowledge through prior personal or workplace experience) as once completed you will be eligible to assess projects related to Indigenous and ethnic broadcasting. The How to Assess First Nations application video series is a series of cultural competency training resources for CBF volunteers. These 4 short videos are comprised of interviews with First Nations stations, assessors and committee members and cover a range of topics that aim to assist assessors when considering applications from First Nations Australian organisations and content-makers. The series is intended to be viewed in its entirety and includes the following:
- Module 1: Meet the First Nations media sector (15 mins) Hear from a range of leaders in the First Nations Media sector about their organisations including regional, remote and metropolitan stations.
- Module 2: Meet some First Nations CBF Assessors (6 mins) Meet some of the CBF’s First Nations assessors and hear about how they came to be involved
- Module 3: What do First Nations stations need from CBF grants? (15 mins) Hear from First Nations applicants about their needs in relation to CBF funding
- Module 4: Tips for assessing First Nations applications (16 mins) Hear some hints & tips from First Nations assessors about what to consider when assessing grants from First Nations organisations and content-makers
