Tamara Whyte

Tamara Whyte is a descendant of the Warrgamay peoples of coastal far north Queensland, and Eromango Vanuatu with Swedish and Mongolian heritage.  She works across film, video, photography and photomedia. Growing up in South East Queensland, she left to travel, living in Japan for several years, but now calls Yirrkala, in the Northern Territory home.

Tamara has shot, written, directed and produced a number of short documentaries, drama and video works since 2010 and has been screened and exhibited both nationally and internationally. She has completed tertiary studies, in Drama, Screen and Media and has a Masters in Indigenous Social Policy.  In 2020 she was the recipient of the Inaugural Centralised Documentary Australia Foundation Fellowship.   She is currently the Chair of ICTV which broadcasts from Alice Springs.
