Shortly after a major turning point in his life, Andsley Dennis joined Alive 90.5FM.  He describes it as ‘…the perfect Happy Cocktail – not the one you drink, but it gave me the endorphins, oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine to stay happy and positive and make a difference in the lives of others’.

Andsley Dennis is the Chairman of Alive 90.5FM where he has sat on the Board for the past four years, alternating between the roles of Chair and Treasurer.   He broadcasts three programs on Alive FM: ‘Out of Africa’ (in African) with co-host Tarisai Vushe – featuring African music, stories, news and events, Hora Latina – a Spanish and Portuguese program, and the Positive Energy show with co-host Karenza De Leon – featuring RnB, pop, hip hop and interviews with musicians and other guests.  Andsley was also previously a breakfast show presenter on Connect FM 100.9 (2BACR).

‘People change when circumstances around them change’ says Andsley.   After going through a divorce and job loss in 2020, he had to find something positive and uplifting to focus on.  It was ultimately his passion for community radio and his love for music, people and community that helped him recalibrate his focus, to stay positive and continue making a difference in others’ lives.

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Andsley migrated to Sydney/Eora in 2006.   He currently works with several charities and has a degree in Industrial Sociology and Industrial Psychology from the University of Cape Town.   Andsley is also actively involved in the African and Latin communities in Sydney/Eora.

‘I signed up to be a CBF assessor to gain more knowledge, but to also give back to other community radio stations and be part of the decision-making process’, shares Andsley.   Having worked as a senior retail executive in merchandise buying, planning, supply chain & marketing roles, he explains ‘I have experience in the corporate sector in tenders & grants [which] are similar in nature and I love being able to contribute with my skills across industries’.

Thank you, Andsley!   Tune in to Alive FM to catch Andsley Dennis every week on ‘Out of Africa’, ‘Hora Latina’ and ‘The Positive Energy show’.
