103.9 Hope FM is a community radio station run entirely by dedicated volunteers in the town of Esperance, Western Australia. With a Christian foundation, the mission of Hope FM is ‘to broadcast content that will bring a smile to your body and soul’.
Hope FM’s Station Manager, Meredith Waters, was announced Community Citizen of the Year at the 2023 Shire of Esperance’s Australia Day ceremony! Talk about a station at the heart of its community!
Meredith’s story reflects the often varied and long-term role in community organisations that people play in more remote towns and communities. She began broadcasting with Hope FM in 2012 before taking on the role of Board Secretary in 2014 and becoming Station Manager in 2018. She is also co-host of ‘H2Ox2 the Formula for Fun’ – the station’s Saturday night program featuring 80s rock, 90s pop, song requests as well as reflections on the week and sometimes further back.
The Esperance Community Citizen of the Year Awards shines a light on leading local citizens for their outstanding community service and contributions towards creating a better community including in the arts, health, voluntary services, social inclusion, and the advancement and wellbeing of a community, amongst other areas. Congratulations Meredith!
