Indigitube apps – connecting Indigenous communities
27 April 2017
We’re committed to helping Indigenous communities connect and preserve culture by supporting community media. In partnership with IRCA (now known as First Nations Media Australia), we helped to develop Smartphone apps to stream remote radio services.
Listeners from remote communities visiting or living outside the broadcast network, such as major towns, can access their home radio stations, keeping them connected with their community. For example, a Pitjantjatjara speaker from Pukatja visiting Alice Springs can continue to listen to radio in their first language via the app.
Thanks to our support, listeners can now access IndigiTUBE radio stations on their Android or Apple device, including Black Star Radio, CAAMA Alice Springs, Pilbara and Kimberley Aboriginal Media (PAKAM), PAW Radio Network, Radio 4 ‘Meriba Wakai’, NG Media, Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (PY) Media and Top End Aboriginal Bush Broadcasting Association (TEABBA).
