Tess Lawley

CBF Ambassador

“It was like stumbling alone in the wilderness and then finding my tribe.”

Tess Lawley loves community media. After moving to Melbourne from a regional area, Tess was craving something that felt like home. That’s when she discovered community radio and its people.

“I began volunteering at every community media outlet I could find; front desk at 3RRR, music department at PBS, news and current affairs at SYN, documentary making with FBi, volunteer coordinating, social media, music and talks presenting – pretty much anything a community radio station would let me do, I’d be there!”

Tess continued her career in community media, finding paid employment with youth station SYN as a trainer, project coordinator and then General Manager. Although she has recently departed SYN, she continues on the PBS Board.
