Margaret has always been an active member of her local community, volunteering for many causes. Despite this involvement, Margaret started to feel a twinge of loneliness after her husband Theo passed away, “The thought of being at home alone every day was terrifying.”

At this time, her local radio station Eastern FM provided Margaret with the comfort of a community within close-reach. Tuning in each day, she felt valued and connected, finding new ways to engage with others in her local area.

“I love having Eastern FM on. I’ve picked up so much local information that you just don’t get on other stations, like the group that helps refugees settle and takes donations of household items. That’s what it’s all about – community helping community.”
