During National Volunteers Week we’re celebrating the generous contributions of the many volunteers who give so much to bring community media to life.

More than 22,000 volunteers sit at the heart of community broadcasting, including over 160 of very own volunteer Grant AssessorsGrants Advisory Committee members and Board members. Their combined skills, knowledge and expertise in community broadcasting are central to our decision-making, ensuring our grants reflect the many perspectives, people, cultures and communities that make Australia what it is!

Together, we are are helping create a thriving and resilient future for community media.

So thank you from all of us here at the CBF, to all of our volunteers who give so much to our sector. We are better together.

Volunteer stories

We regularly publish interviews with our volunteers about their backgrounds and why they love community broadcasting. You can also read about the sector’s community broadcasting trailblazers who have all made a lasting contribution to community media.

If you’re interested in learning more about the grants process, think about becoming one of our Grant Assessors. We’re always looking for people to join our team of volunteer assessors. You can find out more about what’s involved and how to apply on our Grant Assessor Team page.

“I’d definitely recommend becoming a CBF assessor. It’s great to feel like you’re directly making a difference on the ground at stations.”  – Sharmaine Spencer

Opportunities to join our Board and committees happen once every 18 months. Subscribe to our newsletter for updates or check our volunteers page.
