What is this survey about, and why are we doing it?
CBF is evaluating the training programs that we’ve funded the CMTO to deliver in recent years. An important part of this evaluation is hearing from stations about their training experiences, views and needs.
This survey asks about your station’s training experiences with CMTO and/or with other training providers. We want your views on what worked well, what could be improved, and what else is needed to train and upskill the community broadcasting sector.
Who is it for?
This survey is focused on community radio stations at an organisational level:
- It is intended for people in station leadership roles – e.g. supervisors, managers or coordinators who know a bit about what’s happened with training and upskilling across their team of volunteers and/or staff.
- It is not intended for individual trainees, community broadcasting sector organisations, or any organisation that is not a community radio station.
If someone else at your station is better placed to answer this survey, please forward to them and encourage them to do it. If you and another colleague share responsibility for training/upskilling at your station, you might do the survey together, or you could both do it.
There is no need for lots of people from the same station to do this survey.
Why should I do it?
Your answers will help shape future training and upskilling opportunities for the community broadcasting sector – including what kind of training is offered, how it’s delivered and how it is funded.
This survey is anonymous so you can be frank and fearless in your feedback. We want to hear from all stations, no matter how much or how little training you’ve done lately, or who delivered it. All views and experiences are valuable.
Plus, everyone who completes the survey can choose to enter the draw to win a $250 Store DJ voucher for their station. We are offering this to encourage lots of stations to do the survey, so the findings are as useful and reliable as possible.
How we will use the information you provide
Only the CBF evaluation team will see your anonymous survey responses, which will be kept confidential and stored securely by CBF.
We will analyse all the combined responses to identify common themes and summary findings from the survey. We will put the survey findings together with other data we collect through interviews and desktop research. Our evaluation report will contain summary findings, and a few illustrative de-identified quotes or examples from the survey, but it won’t detail individual survey responses.
We will share our report with the CMTO, but not the survey data. We will also share the evaluation findings with other sector organisations and our government funders.
We will use the findings of this evaluation to guide our sector investment funding decisions over the next few years. CMTO will use it to help inform course and resource planning. Sector organisations may use the findings to inform workforce development planning.
